Creativity and Gratitude

November 29, 2024

Gratitude. It's everywhere right now. In blog posts, emails, and conversations. And since we just celebrated Thanksgiving in the US - it is literally the word of the season. At the risk of adding to the noise, I’m going to throw my hat in the ring.

For me, it boils down to one thing. Gratitude is about noticing. It’s about paying attention to what delights us, what brings us joy, and the small, everyday acts of kindness that so often go unnoticed.

It doesn’t have to be complicated. In fact, the simpler, the better. Gratitude is energy. When we focus on what we’re grateful for, we align ourselves with the kind of energy that attracts love, abundance, and joy.

But here’s the kicker—it also fuels creativity.

Gratitude sharpens what I like to call “everyday noticing.” The act of appreciating the little things can spark inspiration and open doors for creativity to flourish. Often, the most delightful and unexpected ideas emerge when we simply take time to observe and let our minds wander.

Easy, right? For me, not always. Practicing gratitude requires intentionality, especially when life feels chaotic.

But I recently came across a quote that helps ground me:

“When you focus on the good, the good gets better.”

I’m not sure who said it, but I love it.

And it feels like the perfect place to start.
